Applying for Teens & Adults:
requirements - gray areas - alternate careers -
how to submit - open call
We cover the Southern California modeling market- from Los Angeles to the Mexican Border. Please make sure you either live in our area or are moving here before submitting to the agency.
If you are interested in working in the San Diego region, basically
from San Clemente to the Mexican border, and live in our area, then
continue reading how to apply to SDMM. If you don’t live in
our area and are interested in applying to the “big agencies”
then go here.
This Teen and Adult category includes ages 13 to seniors. Everyone
in this age group is generally considered an adult. Height minimums
are 5’7” for females and 5’10” for males.
There is a gray area as to exactly when a “child” model
turns into an “adult” model. A good basis to go on is
the following:
Girls who are 13 or older and are not 5'7" - and this is important
- feel they are not ever going to grow to at least 5'7" should
not apply. If you are a teen girl and are under 5'7" but are
growing and are confident that you will reach at least 5'7"
- then you can apply. The same applies for Boys except the height factor is 5'10".
For women who are petite: 5'2" to 5'4" and, over 21 years of age - you can apply as described below to the adult booker. Teens who are petite, and men under 5'10" should not apply. There is simply not enough work for these body types.
For people that fate has determined should be under our height requirements
keep in mind the following. You can still be in the modeling industry
in these ways: actor or actress, model agent, model booker, hair
and makeup person, photographer, photographers assistant, production
assistant, location scout, talent agent, casting director, photo
stylist, fashion coordinator, dresser, digital image enhancement,
or promotional modeling (generally after 21 years old).
Your photographs do not have to be professional. Regular snapshots
that you take are fine. Go to the Preparing Your Photo Submission
page for more info.
It is better to submit by e-mail rather than send your pictures
by regular mail. If you submit by e-mail you will normally get back
an e-mail back with a yes or no answer within a week or two. If
you submit by regular mail you only get back an answer if we are
interested in you. The reason is that there are simply too many
submissions to call everyone back and tell them “no”.
Kindly do not ask why we did not want you. Agency personnel are
not allowed to give reasons. Be assured there was no conspiracy,
only a lot of submissions and very few spots available.
If you do submit by regular mail remember we do not return pictures.
San Diego Model Management is not responsible for pictures received
in submissions. Color laser prints, (the ones you can get almost
anywhere for 69 cents), or print outs from your home computer are
fine for submissions.
Our regular mail address is:
Adult Booker, 438 Camino Del Rio S. #116, San Diego Ca, 92108. See
below for e-mail information.
Whether you submit by e-mail or regular mail we will need your name,
phone number, age, and city where you live.
Follow these simple steps for e-mail submissions:
Use only 72 dpi resolution.
Keep image sizes under 500 pixels in height.
We do not accept submissions over 499mb in combined file size.
We only accept JPEG format. No ZIP or other extensions.
For Teen & Adult picture submissions e-mail to: adultbooker@sdmodel.com
For those who live close enough there is the possibility of coming
in on one of our Open Calls.
If you are planning to come to open call be aware of the following:
All of the above criteria still applies to Open Call, Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm.
It is NOT a counseling session. It simply gives anyone
who is interested a chance to come in and see if we are interested
in representing them.
Most interviews only last one minute. Therefore, if you feel you
live far away, simply e-mail us your pictures or put them in the
mail.
You must bring in some type of pictures with you. See Preparing
Your Photo Submission for more information.
We do not see babies or kids during open call, only Teens, Adults,
and Actors.
